Hi,
I thought I should share a little known species that is usually not used outside of its distribution range.
Apeiba membranacea
Common names: monkey comb (peine de mono), maquisapa, peinecillo
Distribution: tropical South America (Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela)
Uses: formwork, paneling, boxes and packing, handcraft
Specific gravity: 0.27 g/cm3
MOE: 27000 kgf/cm2
MOR: 418 kgf/cm2
Janka hardness: 95 kgf

It’s actually a tree. The particularity of this wood is the amount of parenchyma, as you can see it forms quite big bands
