I used to make a lot of these back in the mid-nineties. My book, that I still have, is titled Making Wood Boxes With A Band Saw , (1985) by Tom Crabb. I found it to be a very useful book. It even has patterns for various boxes.

You are welcome. If you can't find one at your local library or otherwise, I would be willing to loan it to you.

Cody, I just looked it up on amazon, and found that if you can get a used one with free shipping, it might be a lot less expensive than for me to ship it to you and back. They have a few used ones with free shipping for a total of $5.99. That is a very good deal.

You are again more than welcome. Enjoy. Bandsaw boxes are fun to make; but, they seemed to require a lot of sanding. Or, maybe I just didn't cut them well enough.

That's my worries... I got a brand new spindle sander so hopefully things aren't that rough coming off the saw.

I am bringing this thread back from the dead in the event someone ever comes across this again. The book I bought that got me going on bandsaw boxes is: Building Beautiful Boxes with Your Bandsaw, by Lois Keener Ventura. She has some great designs in there that have been successful sellers at all my craft shows (more so than my own designs, I'm afraid to admit!).
Dan is correct in that there is a lot of sanding, because you are dealing with the relatively rough cut of a bandsaw blade versus having square stock coming off a table saw or jointer. I have probably made over a hundred bandsaw boxes to date - they are really fun to make. You can literally take a design sketched on a napkin and create a functional piece in whatever shape, style, or color you want.

Wow, I had never heard of him before. He is quick! The Carter blade guides he pitches look pretty sharp too. Thanks!

We watched Alex do his demo yesterday at the woodworking show. He cuts them and his wife does all the sanding and finishing. His presentation on bandsaw is worth the 30 minutes if you attend a show. He shows how to properly tune a saw, build 3D cutting boards and make boxes

I’ve made a bunch of them. This one is a favorite of mine. I actually made four but I like this one best.
