I collected quite a lot of this Beutyleaf Laurelwood a half year back after my neighbours pruned back a very old tree on their property. It is truly a lovely tree from leaves (as the name states) to flowers, fruit, bark and even the growth pattern. Very unique to see them in bloom all around the beach this time of year. The wood is surprisingly beautiful. It looks like a much more beautiful version of Mahogany mixed with a cypress or pheasantwood. Has a natural sheen when cut and the grain has a lovely fine feathering effect. Density seems about the same as mahogany to me. In the pics below compared to other Taiwanese woods I had in my shop. I brightened and cleared up one set of pics to try and make the lovely fine grain more evident, but didn't do too well. I sanded only down to 150grit, so in reality, it would shine like glass under a fine sanding. Enjoy

It’s Taiwanese pheasantwood a cassia species?
Yes, same thing as is normally available. Just looks somewhat different I think when grown here. Better actually. Looks really crazy when book matched like I did below. One looks just like a bear and the other like a koala I think.
