Nice BE (aka Ash Leaf Maple) bowl. I've found most maple wood is great turning wood, but the soft maples (i.e. anything but sugar maple) need sharp tools. If you have acces to the whole tree then try to get some wood where the base of the trunk starts to spread out. You might find some nice curl there, and maybe some red streaks if you're lucky.

I wish I had access to the whole tree. I bought a couple blanks from Got Wood?.com so all I have is this and one other.
