Nothing like the beautiful boxes here but the story is the key. My granddaughter was like 5 and heard I wasgoing to start making boxes. So she drew on a piece of 2x4 and sent it to me to make a box with. It ended up being my first ever bandsaw box. Nothing to bag about but she loved it.

Those are the BEST kind of projects any of us can ever make.

I thought Ray (or me) had posted some photos showing how this is done but I can't find them. Give me a day or two and I'll post some up. I have a box in progress right now and am at the stage I need to set up the hinge pins, so I'll take a couple photos. Easier than trying to describe it all in words.

EDIT: I made a step by step with a few photos in the Classroom section. Check it out. And Ray ( @Ray D ) please add your thoughts and clarifications.

A small grain wrapped Cherry box in the style of Matt Kenney’s 52 Boxes… and a small salt cellar made from a walnut blank picked up from woodcraft.

And here's another recipe box I made for Michele. Same wood as the first one.

This is an urn box for our pup, Drexler. I used bocote for the sides with ebony corners slips and maple thins for the top and bottom, I got from @Mike1950

Marc - how did the hickory flooring work? I have some that a guy dropped off one day while I was away and I'm thinking of using it for the top of a Moxon vise bench top set up (the kind you can clamp to an existing bench). But I need to plane off the grooves on the bottom of the flooring boards.

Wood a turned container with a glass & wood hinged top used to store and show off the contents qualify as a box? If so, I'll post a picture when either Woodbarter or my computer will allow me the pleasure of posting a picture or 2. ............ Nubs

A dresser is a box. A case is a box. We don't need no stinking rules here. If you think it it is a box, it is.
