Cherry burl sap?

I think gum pockets in cherry is part of what gives this lumber a lot of character so I never try to remove them. Just my opinion of course. Hopefully someone can help you out.

Thanks for the replies. I put some of the sap in denatured alcohol to see what happened. It dissolved about 50%. After I rough turn probaly soak in denatured alcohol. Then try pick the rest.

What are you going for? Why remove it? Are you rendering it to make rosin for bow dressing?

Turning bowls with the burl. Was hoping somebody had good idea to get rid of the gum. I had it all over the other day it was sticky.
