Just completed this special order for Bob C., premier holster maker with B&B Holsters. He chose these book match Desert Ironwood scales from my inventory for his full size 1911.

Screaming cool! DIW is such a great contrast with its dark tones, not to mention the incredible panoply of character! Chuck

Curt - do you ever checker your grips?
No Doug, I don't. Two reasons, my eyes aren't what they used to be (LOL) and, if I were to checker the surface of wood like this, it would obliterate the beauty of the figuring, and colors, and the subtle thin lines that give wood like this it's character. If I were still hand checkering it would be on "plain Jane" walnut or some similar ordinary looking wood. But thanks for asking.

As always good looking! What is your favorite wood to work with on grips Curt?
Thank you Jim. My two favorite woods to work are Desert Ironwood and Amboyna Burl, just because of their beauty and diversity. I like a host of different woods but, those two are by far my favorites. Thanks for asking sir.
