    Got an idea, worth it?

Pecan...drummer in son's band family has a pecan orchard in S GA. Hurricane took down bunch of trees. His father helped initially plant the orchard around 50 yrs ago as a youngster. Would pecan make drum shells?

Don't know about drums, but Pecan is a nice wood for lots of other things. Chuck

Yes it absolutely would. Pecan is essentially the same as hickory. Stave Shells are abit finicky to get right but they are actually pretty easy to make. I could guide you through it.

I did an image search and found a fair amount of Pecan snares.

I watched a few vids...looks like I got a few jigs to make. Probably use some other wood for a trial run, the pecan would have to be cut and dried.
