I finally had time to cut some of my large walnut crotches that are 12/4. This piece measures 23 long, 11.5 wide and 3.25" thick. It has been air-drying for 10 years or longer and is at 16% moisture content. I will seal the ends before shipping it in a LFRGB.

Both the front and back are shown. Total cost including shipping is $65.00 to anywhere in the USA. There is no water or any other product on this wood so you can only imagine how dramatic it will be in finished bowls.

That would yield 2 bowl blanks 11.5 inches for 32.50 each shipped. I'm almost tempted to buy it for that but funds are a little tight right now and I have a bunch of walnut. But man that's some beautiful crotch wood.

Thanks Greg, it is great walnut. I have more so you will see other slabs and bowl blanks like this in the future.

I've got lots of slabs but normally cut them for shipping into 23" sections. Shipping a full slab costs more than the wood is worth. Jerry recently stopped by on his cross country tour and got a nice slab from me in trade for a round of mesquite.

Doesn’t have to be in 3 in
Wide enough for a side table or coffee table 15-20 in

Good call Texasstate. We recently put together a sitting area and need a small side table. I am also interested in a slab with similar dimensions.

Wrap it up and ship it south!!

A/c just went out and I don’t need to spend money, but I know I can turn a sizable profit on that piece! Keep em coming, Rob!

Justin, I'll see what I have. Are you look for a live edge slab? I do have some 5/4 walnut that is 18 " wide but it's not live edge.
I know that @Mike1950 has great slabs that would fit your needs. Suggest you get in touch with Mike.

Great. Thanks. I sealed the ends and the crotch grain where I planed it to help guard against new checks. You will get some great bowls out of this.

    I'll send a PM.

I sure did, and the piece I got looks to be a mirror of the piece you pictured above. It's gonna be a couple months before I can work it...... Thanks for the invite for the meet. What are you gonna do with that mesquite? ............... Jerry (in Tucson)

Daughter has requested a small table for her family room. Should be nice for that. Be sure to post photos of the bowls you turn from the slab.
