Mike, that piece is very very nice. I would need a piece about 32" in length and 7" wide. Of course that center portion would be ideal, I would like to avoid any knots or cracks it kind of looks like the lower live edge side looks pretty good. I would love to get the most figure out of the piece as well! Let me know if you can make something work?

PS- I think dark line in lower right corner is a crack. This is a big chunk of wood- probably 2 stocks in bottom.

John - I have one piece of old Reinhart Fajen steam dried Mahogany stock material left if your interested. It doe ant quite meet your posted dimensions. It is 27" long by 3" x 7.25. Its been in my shop for over a decade and I just need to quit trying to convince myself I'm going to do anything with it. :sarcastic:

Yep. These are quick cell phone pics and the wood was not even dusted. One flaw on one side that looks to be a cleat mark from a strap ? Nothing more than 1/8 deep.

I'm not sure if I can get a stock out of that or not... it may be a little short. Let me ponder it, and I will let you know.

Are you firm on the $70+Shipping?

Mike,

How big is that slab? How much would you sell it for?

That's a little rich for me... How much for a gun stock size 31" x 7" x 3"?

Hi John,
Newbie here..:-)

Got a friend who uses wild mango to make gun stock, I did at some point exchange wood with him that's how I got mine.
If you are interested, I can get in touch with him see if he has anything your size he's willing to let go.

Here is my wild mango wood from him:

And here is his gun stock from the wood:

Now those are some fancy gunstocks. I love it! I wonder how heavy that wood is? And more importantly, how stable? Gary

@HomeBody
These wild or sometimes called curly mango ( mangifera indica ) is typically at about 600-700kg/m3 density, good stability, wont crack, check, twist or warp easily.
But it's not on the top of durability or resilience chart.
For tonewood & gunstock, it is awesome.
