12”-16” finished product spindles needed for a bench project, ideally with a 10”x 20” 2+” back rest. Who’s holding?

Have a bunch of Ziricote spindle stock if that interests you at all.

That could work if it’s high character or on the dark side, especially if you have a board or two as well

Have probably (30) of this spindle stock in Ziricote. 1.5” sq x 31” for $30/each plus shipping. It’s brown with black streaks when dry, but I put a little water on one and shows how dark it gets in a hurry, so depends on the finish you choose.

Also have these (2) Ziricote board measuring just over 1.75” thick. Widths are 5 and 6” and 36” long so you could glue up if needed?

Also have this board just over 2” thick. 5.25 wide x 37.5” $150.

all boards would be plus shipping.
Thanks

Anyone have ebony alternatives? Going for near black without requiring so much stain it loses the natural beauty.

If you are willing to pay shipping from Austria, then I can help. I have some sources from which I regularly get high quality wood. It’s just gonna be pricey.

Define pricey lol
A two square spindle blank would be around 70 because of size (not including the price of the wood) you could add more into the same box but would end up at needing to reduce weight to keep it there. You will have more luck looking in the US.

Although it's the opposite of "not requiring too much stain", Holly is often used as an ebony substitute because it takes stain well and has a very similar grain structure to gaboon and Indian ebony. If you got some green mineral stained holly that wasn't properly dried, it wouldn't cost you too much and should stain the same as the expensive grade a Holly.

Check out Got Wood? LLC (turningblanks.net). They have kiln dried macassar ebony blanks and may have other species as well. Great company for affordable turning stock. I have gone to them several times and found what I needed.

Just tried that web address and it's not functioning apparently.

Edit: I guess you have to use the whole address. www.turningblanks.net
