hello all
I made a couple scrolled "bowls" from some aromatic cedar I had.
My question is what type of finish / sealer would be recommended.
My wife is loving the smell of the unfinished bowl I showed her.
Is a finish even required?

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated

Thank you

Chris

If you finish it, it's not going to be so aromatic anymore. Regardless of what you put on it, it's going to seal it to some extent. If she loves the Cedar smell and doesn't plan to use it in a fashion that it will need washing, I would think you'd be fine leaving it until it quit being aromatic.

Finish it your normal method and make another one, fill them both with the shavings made and then make more. Everytime the scent goes away turn more bowls and fill with shavings.
It's a win win. Since she likes the smell you should probably upgrade the lathe, bandsaw, hand tools and the only way you can continue to provide her what she wants is to build a bigger shop.

Jeeze, do I have to think of everything

Thanks guys.
I will try Don’s approach and if you don’t see any more posts from me you’ll know how that went.
:ok:

Thanks again
