My father-in-law has 12" -20" DBH trees. Every year he wacks half dozen just for firewood. If no one has, I can get you plenty of green. Have a 10" round x 14" tall sitting outside the basement door now...

On the east coast, Ostrya virginiana, also called 'Ironwood'.

    I lack in the collection:
    1. Ostrya knowltonii Coville
      1. Ostrya chisosensis Correll

These are hornbeam, not hophornbeam, but similar enough that they may suit your needs. Figured I'd mention since it's been a few days. 1-2" thick.

It's a tough but not heavy wood - takes wear and compression reasonably well and is cheap. So practice swords, plane bases, shop push sticks / consumables, handles, rollers...

Yeah, I saw that and already corrected it to "knot" in the Excel file but too lazy to redo the image here. Definitely a slip of the figner.

I am very familiar with eastern hornbeam as well. I would love to buy a piece of that from you. Would you mind messaging me? I haven’t quite figured out how to do that yet

No problem. Like I said, not expensive - flat rate bag is $8 to ship. I think I can fit all four in a bag, though maybe only three. Say $20 shipped, and I will send whatever fits? I will send a pm to coordinate PayPal.

Mr. Peet, not sure on specific tree ID. These were originally rollers that a contractor used to move large, heavy things (handles compression well). I wound up with a bunch some time ago and cut them down for various things.

Actually, can't pm you - it is not an option off your profile. I think it is something like you need a few more posts for them to turn on.

TJ, don't put your personal info in a post. Only in PM. You can edit it and take it out.

Just leave one more comment in any thread on the site, and you’re ‘conversation ‘ function will be enabled. I removed your email address to keep the computer bots from putting you on a thousand unwanted mailing lists.
