Reading a book (Stryker, Bobby Andrews) that has this description of the Texas landscape:

...the terrain was so flat you could spend a week watching your dog run away.

In Texas, you can see on Monday who's coming to dinner on Friday.

My favorite one is about Lubbock:

"You can be on one side of town and see clear to the other side. If you stand on a soup can you can see the back of your head".

That's nothing. I once stood on a bucket in Kansas & saw the back of my own head.

In your case, the back of your knees....

Don't doubt that about the dog,,,,,,
Some of my memories of living in North Texas (Canyon, just south of Amarillo) include:
- when driving, knowing that if you saw trees, there was a house--they there both were few and far between
-corn fields that went as far as you could see
-actually drove through "Hell", still have a pic of the road sign somewhere
- if driving at night you'd the next town's lights---for like an hour
- have actually been mudded--it rained Mud! (not fun, was driving at the time, looked a swarm of bees coming)
-looking out the door of our apartment and seeing 5 different funnel clouds on the horizon in an approaching storm
- another time--a day in May, from the same storm---big rain, lots of hail, and then 2 inches of snow with flakes so big, they didn't fall, they plopped
- lots more, but also many of the nicest folks you'd want to meet.
