Man, that first picture looks like a chicken waiting for the oven. At least that was my first impression. ........... I'm not sure but kinda doubt it.
Maximum dimensions are 22" x 17" x 5 ". If I decide to sell it here Tim I will tag you for sure.
I would have thought they hit a nest of common wood bees, also called shiny butt bees.

I was thinking graft union being two different Walnut species like used for nut production like on the west coast. It does look similar to what they cut. I enjoy Matt’s videos also . Man, his channel has really grown over the past years. Good for him + he has a great sense of humor!!
