Lidded Box— January’s club “challenge”—‘skeet

our latest challenge was to make a lidded box. Hsd originally planned to go BIG—- but physics and material failure dictated otherwise.
This one is Mesquite with a finial from Anaqua (knockaway around here). I use it because of its straight grain & does well for that. Box itself is 5 “ high and 5 across. Finial is 4 “ high. Finish is poly, and used a little BLO to pop the grain on the finial. Oh! And a little turquoise too.
I finished the outside with gloss— the Mrs. didn’t like that— I think it makes it jump out a little bit.

Looks great, love the shape. And you have an entry for the Woodbarter challenge.
This was last year I think.
Use of this challenge—Thought about that—- but to be a sport, I’ll make one or two new ones.
I actually have several already made
