Thanks, Dave! Unfortunately these are both too small for me - I need 50mm square and 25mm thick. getting the docs for having them shipped from French Guyana might come in quite expensive?
Ah shame, everything comes in knife scale size! He can ship via France so it's not as expensive as you'd think, though for one or two items maybe not economical. Depends how badly you want it

For frutescens, not THAT much. I have some I managed to find from someone who used it for inlays so I am not particularly low on it anymore. Really congestiflora is the big one I almost never say no to, but good luck finding that now HA

jumping on here with the knife blanks I have up for trade. As well as some spindle blanks.

greenheart - 150x49x22mm
Wallara (E. falcata) - 133x49x26mm
She oak (C. Fraseriana) - 148x50x26mm
Andaman padauk - 154x49x25
“Indonesian” padauk (no idea on the sp here) - 147x50x25
Parana pine - 147x49x24
Afromosia -147x49x24
Figured guarea - 146x50x27
Anjan- 149x48x25
Figured goncalo alves -118x49x25

rengas: 2x2x12
spalted jatoba: 2x2x12
Zollerina glabra (no idea on a common name) 2x2x12 x 2 of these.

I am still interested in Dalbergias - especially congestiflora (camatillo), frutescens (tuilipwood), baronii (or any madagascan species) and cultrata at the moment.
Additionally, other species I would love to find: australian sandalwood, red lancewood, boonaree. As always, anything especially pretty or unusual (and dense) might be up my street.
Hi,
@daniscool is correct. I have boonaree and red lancewood. And technically 4 different species of Australian sandalwood, although it’d take something very interesting for me to cut into those. They are very hard to find anymore. What sizes are you looking for again?

Understood, I wouldn't ask you to cut into your AU sandalwood - I know how precious that stuff is! My usual size is 50mm wide and 25mm thick (any length as long as over 50mm). I have got a lead on some boonaree and red lancewood out of AU, so I might have that one sorted.

I am always looking out for pieces of rare Dalbergia species. I do have a hit list of priority I am always searching for. Most are difficult to find now unfortunately.
Sizes for me aren't too important as long as the piece is at least 50mm/2" wide, 1"/25mm thick. Length doesn't matter as much.

Top priority - actively looking for:
Dalbergia oliveri, Burmese rosewood (possibly top of my hit list at the moment!)
Dalbergia congestiflora, camatillo/mexican kingwood
Dalbergia odorifera, Huanghali
Dalbergia tonkinensis (not sure on a common name)
Dalbergia lanceolaria
Dalbergia cultrata, Burmese Blackwood
Dalbergia assamica
Dalbergia custalanica - Ocelot ear rosewood
Dalbergia spruceana - Amazon rosewood

Also high priority but not rosewoods:
Brya ebenus - Jamaican cocuswood
Caesalpinia echinata - pernambuco
Santalum heleakalae - Hawaiian sandalwood
Pterocarpus santalinus - zitan
Olneya tesota - desert ironwood (burl figure only)
Diospyros perrieri - madagascar ebony
Diospyros quaesita

Medium priority - wouldn't say no!
Dalbergia frutescens - Brazilian tulipwood
Dalbergia retusa - cocobolo (only mexican)
Dalbergia baronii - madagascar rosewood
Dalbergia maritima - bois de rose
Dalbergia cochinchinensis - Siamese rosewood

Not looking for:
Dalbergia latifolia - east indian/sonokeling rosewood
Dalbergia sissoo - sheesham/sissoo rosewood
Dalbergia nigra - brazilian rosewood
Dalbergia cearensis - brazilian kingwood
Dalbergia stevensonii - honduran rosewood
Dalbergia tucarensis - yucatan rosewood

Feel free to reach out if you have any of these in the sizes I could use - can discuss a trade for other woods from my stash or I am happy to pay too! :)

Editing to add a list of species of my interest list I currently have - some of them are on my "looking for" list, but that just means I'd like to find more :)

Currently in "the wood library"
Dalbergias:
cearensis - 3/4 log
retusa (nicaraguan and mexican) - a board, some spindle blanks etc of nicaraguan, a 12x6x2" board, plus smaller pieces of mexican
frutescens - 1.5" square about 10" left
sissoo - a few 1x1x12" and a couple of 2x1x6" knife blocks
congestiflora - 4x1x12 board x 2, 2x2x6" spindle blank, 2x2x12" spindle blank
cultrata - some very small 15-18mm x 10-12" spindle blanks, 40mmx26mmx300mm blank
oliveri - a 70x70x24 billet of (old stock) figured material, 2x1x6" knife block
baronii - about 3-4 6" round by 1" thick bowl blanks
greveana - 1 x 6" round by 1" thick bowl blank
lanceolaria - 40mmsq x 600mm spindle blank
tucarensis - 1 x 1.5"x6" spindle blank
stevensonii - quite a few spindle blanks! a 6" x 1.75" x 36" board
latifolia - various smaller spindle blanks
odorifera - 1 piece around 290mm long, approx 125 wide, 40 ish mm thick
maritima - 1 x "block" around 3" x 1.2" x 6", plus 2 boards one is 200 wide x 300 long x 27mm thick. The other is about 800 long, 100 wide and 40 thick.
parviflora - the tiniest littly square piece - not enough to do anything with!

Of the rest of my hit list:

Brya ebenus - a single piece 150mmx60mmx25mm
Caesalpinia echinata - 1 knife scale 50mmx25mmx150mm
Pterocarpus santalinus - 1 knife block 40mmx110mmx28mm
Olneya tesota - a board approx 6" wide and about 2ft long, the odd small piece

Looking through my pics.. pieces I have which I would trade (there will be more as I go through the stash), at least in part:

Hibiscus elatus, blue mahoe - some 3/4" thick by around 10" long x 4-6" wide board pieces
Prosopis glandulosa, mesquite - some 20-22mm 1" long spindle blanks and probably the odd wider more "long knife scale" lengths
Hymenaea courbaril, jatoba (spalted) - a single 2x2x12blank
Gluta sp., Rengas/borneo rosewood - a 2x2x12" blank
Umbellularia californica, Oregon myrtlewood - a 3x3x12" blank, and a slab/board of burl material 20mm thick.
Loads of 2 x 1 x 6" knife style blocks (I cut these into 2x2x1 blanks usually for my work) - I need to go through and document all the sp. I have!
Hi James, I have a piece of Cocus, also one of Tulip wood and a couple of knife blocks of Burmese Blackwood. Please see pics. I have included in the pics a piece of Mulga which is similar to the Cocus, at least as heavy and with a more consistent grain pattern. I live in Shrewsbury, U.K.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for these pictures! Lovely lovely pieces! I would most certainly be intrerested in the cocus block, burmese blackwood knife scales (what size are these?) and the tulipwood. What prices would you be asking, or, what would you want in return as a fair trade?

Hi James, the two Burmese Blackwood blocks are only 1“x 1 1/2“ x 5” so maybe not big enough for you.
Hi Chris, that would be a tad small, but for a wood like burmese blackwood, I could come up with something. Would you be looking to potentially trade (at least some) of the cocus, frutescens and burma blackwood?

Hi James, I am going to sell all of these. I do not want to start sawing away at the Cocus, but would like a small amount (enough for two knife blanks). I make quite slender handles, based on a study of 19th century handle dimensions. 27 x 27 x 120mm is all I need for each handle.

I just need to give this some thought……..

Hi Chris, Understood! I would be happy to buy the remainder of the cocus from you, when you have cut into it (I understand the apprehension of cutting into a piece like that!) Let me know when you are ready to sell with what prices you'd like for each
