I may have some spalted silver maple if that’s of interest to you. I’m away from the shop until tomorrow evening, so tag me if you want me to dig for them.

After Alan chimes in, I might be interested, depending on price and what you have left. Thanks

Well, I was hoping for spalted Oak or maple or sycamore or poplar.

I can get 3" x 3" x 12" spalted hackberry aroind $15-20 a blank, FBE around $10-12 a blank, Never used black oak, So I'm going to have pass @Leroy Blue

I'll be up in Tenn this week end. Do some checking around there. Tenn has better hardwood than Alabama and more variety.

I have a big onion burl that's spalted of red oak. Well, I believe its red oak... tree was dead and down on ground, but was a monster, so based on size, I'm guessing red for my area. It was up to my chest laying on the ground in a swamp.

I can try and get some pics this weekend and we can go from there.

    Alan,
I find, cut, and work the spalting process with the wood I sell. Most of my customers and my self are knife and pistol grip makers we mostly use 2x2x6 inch blocks. I was hoping 3x3x12 inch blocks for Salt & Pepper Makers would price the same as the knife and grip guys.
In the near future is there any possibility we could starting over and work out a trade?
I would very much enjoy owning a Pepper Grinder that you made from a block of my spalted wood!

I have been doing some business this year in your Great State of Alabama around the Oxford, Anniston area. I have seen so many Hackberry trees over here there everywhere.
