  1. Pithecellobium flexicaule , Texas ebony tree was recently renamed Ebenopsis ebano .
Mlyle,

If you score big, I'm looking to land a sample. I have one, but it is undersized. In 2017 we had a two month WB member that promised several of us and up and vanished. Shame of many members fade away.

To screw with the rest of us...

I think they had actually got DNA testing involved and found that another botanists had a better guess what it was related to, then put it in that genus. Not sure of specifics.

Three - 3”x3”x3”? Not sure I have that size. But will check. Does it have to be that size? Can you cast? Believe I have some smaller pieces that I saved. Unfortunately ants got at them 20years ago and varnish was put on them. (Before I got it). I treated the wood when I got it. I think most of the wood I got was 10/4 and 8/4. Again. I would have to dig it out as it is buried right now. I think I can get at it Friday. Unfortunately, I think I have to move a lot of wood to gain access.

They were little black ants. They have been dead and gone for years now. The lumber came with me when I moved from Houston. The previous owner sealed the wood with lacquer. When I bought the lumber I then treated it and killed all the buggers.

I can’t find my Texas ebony cut offs. I may have tossed them when I moved. As I didn’t have a lathe and had no use for them. Sorry. Only pieces I have are fretboards which I intend to use.
