Looking for woods for resin bottle stoppers

Hello all,

I've been working on creating some hybrid blanks, and have plum run out of various woods with checks, divots, gouges, holes, and the like, that allow the resin to "show" through. Anyone selling scraps like this? Any wood that isn't an extreme sensitizer (paduak and cocobolo, especially) welcome.

I just saw @Albert Kiebert with castable cocobolo pen blanks. What size blanks are you hunting?
I dont have much castable except a few ant or termite run apple blanks. And maybe a weird maple.
Try to find redbud if you want plenty of resin to show it cracks all over nicely!

Have a box of years dry figured maple that should keep you busy for awhile for $30 delivered. PM if interested.



Also have these black walnut and figured maple for $20.

Yeah, I saw the cocobolo on the for sale thread, and I like it, but the whole "not being able to breathe" thing is a bit of a dealbreaker!

I will remember that and wear a mask when turning the pens. (Or drop em on somebody who is insensitive)

Yeah, even when I am wearing a mask, it still gets me. That and paduak are just awful in that way. I need a full respirator, I think.

I am not quite out of rough stock...
Just haven't slowed down enough to cut blanks yet.
I still have a dozen 14 to 18 inch rounds to get out of the way before I go to work in the morning

@Johnturner , the 3 pieces of bottle stopper stock are spoken for. The large pieces are not really ready to sell. I been all weekend for 2 weekends processing apple into rough blanks. Still have 7 rounds to go. But I am done for this weekend according to my wife. I will put you in line after our friend the dirt farmer when I start processing this rough stock. If you two are wanting to process the rough stock, start a pm and we will put the details on an open thread when we get it hashed out
