My buddies and I bought out an interesting wood collection which included some decent sized chunks of Madrone burl. The pieces were rough-turned on their exterior to a somewhat basketball shape.

Anyway, they looked kind of intriguing so I decided to make something out of one of the pieces.

This is about 7” tall and 6+ inches wide. Put one coat of satin poly on it just to show off the color.

I think that's a really cool looking vessel. Looking at the interior view of the lid I don't know how you kept it in one piece. Well done. You guys amaze me how you can turn these pieces with big holes and cracks in them. Very cool.

At what point did you finally realize that it was going to hold together :scare3:
No pucker whatsoever. 😀
I turned the lid first and the top (knob) was the tenon.
Was able to size the body opening to the top, then finished the “top knob” by placing it in a set of 4” jaws and turning off the tenon.
I know…….TMI ….😆
