@isaacrapelje and I are trading some of his blanks for one or two mechanical pencils made from one or two of said blanks. Here's a pic of the blanks Isaac sent ... I'll follow up with a pic of my trade when it's made

Michael, honestly the last thing I need is more pen blanks :sarcastic: (I should have asked Isaac to find a bowl blank or something instead, but I fell into a trap when he mentioned a couple of types of burl that I'm addicted to!)

That said -- if I've got a pencil left over after my trade with Isaac, I expect we can work something out :cowboy:

Hi @isaacrapelje - in case you thought I'd forgotten you ... :scare3: ... here are 3 in progress. They started as 4, but since these pencils rely on the wood itself for mechanical strength (no brass tubes) the burls are risky. Fortunately of the two that popped, one blew at the stern and the other at the bow, so I made a frankenburl using the parts that were still okay.

A few more coats of special finish to go and these will be ready for you to choose.

I appreciate the offer, but it wasn't my intention to solicit additional trades/offers ... I was just following WoodBarter rules and making a public announcement of the trade that Isaac and I had worked out.

On the other hand ... wild almond burl sounds freakin awesome, if you post a pic you've almost certainly got a deal :sarcastic:

My bad, I just saw that you were interested in something like a bowl blank lol

@isaacrapelje - the front part of the two-tone pencil is made with this blank:

@isaacrapelje ... here are 5 finished Pentel conversions for you to choose from. (I didn't include the curly mango as my pen stand only has 5 slots.) The original deal was for "one or two", but I'm expanding it to 3 pencils.

Also please state whether you want 0.7mm or 0.5mm mechanisms.

I'm not sure exactly what species they are, but I think the top two are boxelder burl, a split-pen (hackberry at the front?), Honduras Rosewood burl, and maybe two-tone York gum?

Duncan,

Those look great. I would like the top two and the HRB, 2nd from the bottom. Thanks
