Darrel, a buddy who makes turkey calls & used to make duck & goose calls has me makin duck calls for him. I made one using Bottle Brush burl & green resin.
He thinks it's the nicest duck call he's ever seen & is keeping it for himself. He's asked me to make a matching goose call & this is what I made, which is much prettier than the duck call.

It's the nicest one I've ever seen!!! It has a duck call mouth piece & he
's going to get or make a goose call mouth piece.

Lee, the first picture between your forefinger and middle finger looks a lot like Cholla bark. Do you think you would like to try your hand at casting some Cholla bark? I just peeled off a bunch, and I know where there is a whole lot more...... Just today, I stumbled upon a dropped Saguaro limb. The skin was pretty thick, hard and looked like it could also be used for a casting. Also, in that mess was about 3-4 boots. They weren't much use as a boot, but the casing if broken up and packed into a mold, could possibly yield a decent casting......... If interested, I can gather up some of it and send it for postage. ............. Jerry (in Tucson)

    No.
I drilled & turned the shape, sanded with 180 grit then saturated wood with thin c/a glue.

Sorry, didn't get out into the desert today to gather up some of the boot material and Saguaro skin. First thing after coffee tomorrow I'll get out and gather some. it's only about 3-400 yards from my house. Decided to be lazy today........ Jerry (in Tucson)
