My first platter

Im not sure what stopped me from turning this piece for so long but this blank sat on my bench for a year. I’m pretty sure it was the fact that it was only about 1-1/4” thick. Overall width is 17”. If I recall correctly the blank is red elm, I originally thought it was Box Elder but I do not believe that to be.

Beautiful piece of wood!! Love the rim, I imagine that was tricky. Too hard for my skill level. Nicely done.
