Garcia often entertained fans while playing his beloved Wolf guitar, custom-made by Doug Irwin. Created in 1973, the Wolf is nicknamed after a sticker. Garcia placed a fun wolf sticker on the bottom section of its body. Garcia plays this guitar in the famous concert film The Grateful Dead Movie. Irwin regained ownership of Wolf after Garcia’s death. Wolf was one of two Garcia guitars he sold at auction. Originally sold for $789,500, software executive Brian Halligan bought Wolf for $1.9 million.
