Ok, here is another natural top piece. Oak from near Prescott, Arizona. It was yanked from the ground at Thanksgiving, 2016, and made in January I think. It's 6 1/2" tall, 6 1/2 across and the wall on this one is 3/8 thick. I again went into a natural opening and made sure I contacted the opening to leave an index point for center. I actually drove a 1 3/8" Forstner bit through the opening so I could get a measurement. This was much easier since the first one in Mesquite.
The finish was 2 different stains, wiped on and off right away. It was applied just below the 3 bead detail. I was trying to get a look like the paint job on my truck, which is a white at the top and grey fade from the bed height down to dark grey. I do see it, but I don't think the camera picked it up. Very subtle.
let me know your thoughts. If I forgot something you might think is important, please ask........... Jerry (in Tucson) P.S.............Still not my favorite shape.
