I'm posting several versions of this song in rememberence of Kevin.
God speed Kevin.
You will be missed.
Sorely missed my friend.
Great post Mark
Thank you Scott and Tony. Kevin was so much into music, I just felt that these Danny Boys were appropriate at the time.
Grieving must be done, and who knows better how than the Irish? I miss Kevin a whole lot.
Went back and have re-read several of our conversations. Sure wish he was still here.
More, right now, I wish I knew what happened, but I have an idea.
I'll share a brief paragraph from him in one of our conversations:
Kevin wrote to me, on August 8,2016:
"Sorry to hear about your health challenges - I can relate. I've played down my health issues too. I've had 3 TIA's and a minor stroke in less than 4 years. I may not be around much longer (or I might live to 90 we never know) but hey it's been a fun ride, and we all gonna go soon in the big scheme of things. But who wants to right? Lots of life yet to live. I hope you get through the obstacles you're facing and I hope I do too lol."
Sure wish he was still here. That conversation was prescient. I think he knew more than he let on. Sure am sorry to see him go.
For Terry, Abby, Garrett, Lonnie and Betty, Karen, and all who loved Lonnie Kevin Jaynes
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,—
Oh Danny boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so!
But if you come, when all the flowers are dying,
And I am dead, as dead I well may be,
Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an "Avé" there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
and I will sleep in peace until you come to me!
Thank you so much!! You can message me if you would like to talk about my dad! I love talking to everyone and hearing different stories. Thanks for sharing the song!
