In a thread over on the AAW Forum, polymerized tung oil was mentioned, and a member posted a link to shop.skinboats.com that sells polymerized tung oil (unthinned) for less than half the cost at Lee Valley (which is pre-thinned with 50% mineral spirits).

Just thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else is interested. I'm sure I'll need to thin it for use, and plan on transferring it to stop loss bags as well, but if it performs the same, a little bit of extra work and a little bit of solvent is well worth the savings.

It's my go to finish for almost everything except pens. Favorite finish for bowls.

Bill, I haven't, but probably should, especially since I'll need to add solvent to the tung oil. Sure wish I had some of the old ring stands we used to use in our analytical lab in grad school.
