Pot call question

Wondering if the listed rough size of 4” x 4” is the smallest size to be able to work pot calls ?? I have some Coco that is 3 7/8” wide I was thinking of cutting for pot calls and placing on Sale section BUT not if you Pot call guys can’t use, know what I mean, I can always cut for pen blanks

Most friction surfaces are available in 3" and 3.5", and I've seen some as small as 2.75", and even a few in between the extremes. So 3.875" can definitely work, and even if you lose some width turning it just use a smaller surface.

You can definitely use those. I've actually turned a couple with a 2.5" surface.
