    I hope this post is in the right location, if not feel free to move it where it belongs.
    For years I'd look at the Nicholson #49 & #50 and think why would someone spend so much on a file/rasp until one day I went into a hardware store and asked the person how much was the rasp behind the counter (a #50) and he said $2.00, I couldn't pay quick enough. When I got home I understood why they work so much better and leave a surface that required little clean up. Well it's still a lot of money and not everyone uses rasps as much as I do so here's a good substitute I found on Amazon that works really well.

    I agree Roger, I have the 8" version above and have used the heck out of it, works great. I also have a 10"Auriou that is really nice but expensive so I dont want to screw it up, so the Amazon one is my general use beater rasp,
