Hello folks..
At this time I woud like to share a side sharpening jig .
I always prefer side sharpening but normaly the jigs avaible are over stone jigs.
I had this idea below and using wood, aluminun and brass I did the jig.
I used an old slide cabinet door wheel.A 5 mm bolt limit the angle (up and down) at hinge.
It works nicely and it is very simple to do.
Woods are Gonçalo Alves and Pau Ferro (the thinest part).
Gonçalo Alves scientific name =Astronium fraxinifolium
Pau Ferro scientific name=Libidibia Férrea.

The bolt limit the angle. The blade can go up and down changing the angle too (plus the bolt up and down)

Thanks a lot...
In Brazil less tools avaible and much more expensive than US...so design and do it for saving money and personal pleasure sharing as a "free copy" for everybody or company if they want...Of course all metal will last longer but hard wood as both used here and home using will last a lot too.The beauty of wood is more refinated in my opinion.

I did this below few years ago

...it works very nicely too but the new one is very simple to lock the blade in place.

The aluminun bar has a 1/4" threaded hole

The brass lock little wider than slot

How does it work as far as keeping the blade square at the end. Any skewing?
No skewing ...it works perfectly...like we do by hand but with the angle locked..the aluminun bar at slot do not permit any angle moviment..it is 90⁰ with wheel.
