Here are pics of some recent builds.

One is a writing desk design I am putting into production and in talks with a furniture company in NYC with. Appleply and laminate. Planning on different color laminate options as well as hardwood and veneered options.

a quartersawn walnut entryway mudroom area.

    Some vanities.

    And some sapele elevator panels

Very nice builds! But the entry way is far to neat for me, I prefer my shoes in a pile next to the door.:sarcastic:

Always love seeing your stuff Yusuke, you're a pro and you do great work, very cool design on the production table, inspired by Scandinavian furniture?

That is some incredibly nice work! I really like that modern style corner desk and that entry piece. Is the back of that piece veneer?

I think it’s my favorite piece I have done so far. Lol you should see my house. Piles of shoes on a towel by the door... cause you know... the shoe maker has no shoes.

Thanks! I myself aesthetically prefer clean simple lines pertaining to Scandinavian and modern Japanese design. They did in fact love it. I think seeing the clients being happy about the work helps to make it worth it. Getting there can be a drag sometimes, but I hope I never lose the excitement I feel about woodworking.

You’re too kind Barry! I am certainly no pro, but hopefully some day, years down the road, I can allow myself to believe that. I’m at best a moderately skilled woodworker getting my butt handed to me in the business end with aspirations to become a pro like my peers around me. Woodworking as a business is TOUGH. I’m fortunate though to be in tight proximity to 4 cabinetry shops run by real professionals that have all mentored me. I can’t ever thank them enough for the conversations and their time and subbing jobs to me to help me get through tough times. It’s a beautiful thing and part of why I just love woodworking. You meet absolutely wonderful people. Hopefully some day if I can keep going I will be in their shoes and able to pay their generosity to me, forward, to the new kids on the block.

The writing desk is indeed inspired by Scandinavian design! The concept there was to make a somewhat inexpensive desk for the consumer, made from quality materials (appleply core, the laminate for design and utility), but also make a desk that can flat pack ship anywhere globally.

I designed this with the through tenons thinking of how to make a knock down piece of furniture that still looks aesthetically pleasing, but also pays homage to finer woodworking. And a customer with no real woodworking or construction skills needs to be able to assemble it with ease.

I didn’t show it, but those legs are actually three separate pieces that all click together to form the three dimensional leg. So for shipping, the entire desk can fit into a flat box. This desk was a solid L-shape prototype, but the production models will be rectangular with modular sides if someone wants an L shape or U shape.

Hey Matt, thanks man! The back panels of the entry way mudroom are all hand taped quarter sawn veneers. The flitch started out as 14 1/2” flat sawn that I trimmed the quartered sections out of from either side. Then I alternate slip matched so I could get the material yield to span those two panels.
Thanks man! Lol, my wife saw it and immediately asked why we can’t have nice things either.
