Just completed this special order for Colten out yonder in Washington State. Made this set out of stabilized, Spalted Curly Maple, selected by Colten from my inventory of scales. He's putting these on his Dan Wesson Specialist 1911.

I've included pics that Colten sent me after he mounted them on his pistol.

Not yet, unfortunately. Some nice cool evenings though. Winter won’t come until November, late October if I’m lucky.
I remember doing a job in Fergus Falls one October and it was so cold, the locks on my vehicle froze and there was no precipitation involved. Just cold, cold wind all night long! LOL

Gorgeous!!!!! Love the grips just as much!!! :hi: I have always lusted over a Dan Wesson 1911. Well, I have lusted after a lot of 1911s, but just the name Dan Wesson on it means a lot. Sort of like Shelby on a Mustang...… Great grips again Curt. I sure appreciate you showing us your work. And you may have made 100s of "maple" grips, but everyone is unique; these are incredible with the spalt lines. The color tone of that wood on that 1911 frame is just outstanding.

Lol,in the winter the wind doesn’t ever stop blowing up there. That’s why we sell little aerosol bottles of lock deicer.

Thanks very much Gary. And yes, Dan Wesson is a great firearm. I only own one DW, the 10mm Bruin "long slide" (6" barrel), and it's a "beast"! I tore the skin off my right elbow right through the sleeve of a flannel shirt while bench resting it! And that was after only 10 rounds fired!:sarcastic:
