Made this bookmatched set from a block of stabilized, Spalted Maple. These fit the full size 1911 frame and are available. This 10mm is a "beast"! Took it to the gun club on Tuesday to check the sights using "carry" ammo (Critical Duty by Hornady) and it shot comfortably and extremely accurate, whikle standing, with no support at 25 yrds. Wanted to try some rather "hot" hand loads out to 50 yards so, I rested my elbows on the bench for support (no bag) and after 15 rds it felt like my right elbow was wet. Rolled it over to find a circle of blood about 5" in diameter on the shirt sleeve at the elbow. Rolled up the sleeve to find that the recoil had moved it on the bench enough to tear a hole in the elbow with a large flap of skin hanging off of it. Lesson learned. Won't do that again! LOL

Those are amazing. The last time I was at our local range, a guy next to me was shooting a Desert Eagle .50AE. Talk about a "hand cannon." He offered to let me shoot it but I declined. That recoil and my old body would not end in anything positive.

The DE is not as bad as it would seem. Weight is recoil's best friend. After a couple magazines it will wear on you though. Even if it hurts, I believe such things are not to be passed up.

Yeah, it weighs between 4 and 5 lbs. Not a CC weapon for sure.

Know what ya mean Larry. I was standing next to a guy on the firing line last year and he whipped out and started firing a .454 casul. I left!

Yeah, I'm fairly broad in the shoulders and even a S&W 29 .44 mag with a 10 inch barrel in a shoulder rig is getting on the large side for CC, I do have a custom 2 inch Model 29 that sits nice in a pancake holster if I feel like carrying a wheel gun.

Yeah, I heard the other day that Seattle was supposed to get in excess of 8 or 9 inches.
