Wife is threatening to burn some of the hoard, since tripping the other day trying to get in the house. Thought I'd start with sumac. I have a bunch of rounds, some seasoned some not. To simplify, asking to stay with USPS flat-rate shipping. Will do other shipping if needed.

Please request the size you want (diameter size and length), name your price and shipping choice. Highest offers filled first, then as supply allows. Size milling for small flat rate box and envelope requests handled last. Have lots in the 2.5 - 4" diameter, less in the 4 - 6" range and less than that over 6". I can post pictures of each request before shipping. This is not meant as a "gauging interest' post, but to help many.

Picture one is just one of the many sections I have. I also have 3 live standing sumac (6" on stump) that I am willing to take down. The bottom picture is a sumac log I donated to IWCS 2 years ago.

So do you have dry wood suitable for bottle stoppers? You have any pictures of the wood?

    Thanks!

I have many rounds in my brother's barn that need to be removed, since they have been there 6-10 years, multiple sizes. I can only assume to 10-15% moisture. Neat thing about Sumac is it "glows" under black-light. As for bottle stoppers, not an issue but would recommend soaking in a hardener. For sure if used for the combo tool, stopper -corkscrew.

As for pictures, the web has plenty. Here are a few from Paul's site:

    Let me know your thoughts...

No, not punky, it is just a lower density wood. I can cut 2 x 2 stock. How much and what length?

Which medium flat rate, the rectangle game box style or the more square box? Both are $13.65 to ship. I assume the more square box as cutting 2" x 2" for the rectangle results one row (3" deep box). Do you want them 8.5 inches long or 10.5 inches long? Let me fill a box and tell you my time and then as I said to name your price for the wood.

Well, rain again. This is the 24th day with rain for the month. I milled up ten 2" x 2" x 10" blanks. A few show end checks, so I am figuring at least 7 inches sound. There is clear evidence of insects in some at one time, powderpost. In order to have 2x2 stock, you need a least 6" diameter round to limit pith and wayne. As you can see, I still have wayne in a few. I used a 6" round from the wood shed, high moisture, 30% and a 8" round from the barn, 11-12% moisture. Took 2 hours to hobble out the blanks, then likely another half hour with typing & shipping. So at minimum wage, I accept the $20 offer plus the $13.65 shipping fee. Being Halloween time, here is the scary part, only eight fit the box.....the eight sent will be a surprise, if you decide to continue with the purchase. If using PayPal, add another $2 for their greed fee. If you like, PM your address and we can continue.

A picture to show each of 4 sides and the off-fall from milling up the blanks...

Which box, game box (23" by 3") or other (12"x12"). I assume the second since the 3" greatly limits 2" stock. Can I simply slab a round and pack it whatever fits the most? I'll likely have to use my brothers 30" bandsaw since my 14" only handles 6" tall stuff. Or may I slab from 6" stock, single slab above and slab below the pith?
