This is like everything that we buy now packaged up. The content weight is getting smaller and smaller to what it used to be originally. So when it was 16 ounces, it is now 12 ounces. 101 oz is the new 124 oz! So why wouldn’t other services and companies follow suit so they can make more profit?
But if it was honorable, they would advertise "New smaller box for more$$$$"

Some of their price point with the type of service proportionally does not make any sense with what they charge. I just about stopped shipping priority mail for anything that is no more than $ 100. I find that shipping USPS ground advantage is competitive with the delivery time, it covers
$ 100 worth of insurance without the priority mail service price tag. 2-5 business days for that service and about the same time frame as priority mail. It is also much more inexpensive. It is about half the price for 1 pound package via USPS ground advantage versus via priority mail service.

Looks like they are raising prices again. I think 7/14
Also the ^$÷$^&$$:&&&%$'s changed the size of mfr gb from 3.25 to 2.75.
Do you recall where you saw the MFRB side-loading is changing to 2.75? Maybe it’s time to stock up on the older boxes before they’re gone.

On the box. I got a new batch of boxes. 2.75. Easy to discover. I used to be able to get 16 1.5x11 a bw in there. Now 8...

I ship nothing that weighs a lb.a lfrgb would hold 28 1.5x11+ abw. 40 lbs. A bargain for 20 bucks...

I understand how the whole flat rate box works where it does become cost effective because you can put as much as 70 lbs.. If the size you have to ship won’t fit in a flat rate box, then you have to go the next best thing if you are shipping via USPS. That is what I alluded to the cost and delivery time frame between ground advantage vs priority mail service.

We use ship station. If it is not flat rate it ships UPS, cheaper.

I saw Pirateship mentioned up above and having never heard of it, I thought I'd check it out. Super simple to download and use and I saved $4 on a LFRB to Australia ($114 instead of $118). Not a huge savings, but hey, every little bit helps and I'll be sending about 5 of these boxes over the next week or two.

EDIT: poking around it in I see that I can save a ton on heavy shipments inside the US but using UPS ground instead of USPS ground. Example, $24 instead of $37. Nice.

Pirate Ship is my go to. Steep discounts on all the major players.
MFRB inside Maryland was $17 or so compared to same service through PS at under $8.

Sent 2 LFRB to remote CA & Eagle, CO on the same day. Got 2 different prices from Pirateship. When I asked about "Flat Rtae" I was told there's a surcharge for remote deliveries. So "Flat rate" is NOT flat rate

You have to watch out for cheapest UPS option . It is a partnership between usps and ups. Package going to Kansas . When it printed we found that it was going through both. Knew it was going to be slow when it had not left spokane in 4 days. Took 10 days. Tracking was never close. Will not do that again.

Trying to make up that 9.5 billion they lost in a year. Make it private.
