A friend of mine is visiting from out of State, and he is a guitar player. Yesterday we went to a music store in San Antonio, and he gave me a bit of an education on guitars. It was a fun experience, and we saw some nice instruments made from wood. He indicated some guitar picks are made from wood, which piqued my curiosity, but the store did not sell any made from wood. He was also on a quest to find a part for his 1977 Ibanez guitar, the attachment clip at the bottom of that guitar, which the music store did not carry. Wondering if @Arn213 might be able to comment on wooden picks, and a possible source for the attachment clip. Thanks! Chuck

You can make wooden guitar picks. Someone here actually post a thread and was looking for wood to use.

The last photo at the bottom is not anywhere close to an original 1977 Ibanez end pin. Matter of fact that photo is exclusively made by Taylor with the t-nut. An Ibanez made around that year will just have a basic end pin with a threaded screw into the tail block (and/or the neck heel). Those older parts are hard to find and your best bet is second hand through reverb or eBay. A model number of the guitar does help with the search.

Thanks! Very helpful. I will pass the info on the end pin to my friend. Chuck

I make a few wooden picks. Last ones I used some hard brazilian cherry. Any wooden picks I've made darkens the tone more than the standard store bought plastic types.

Interesting. I suspect the hardness of the wood directly correlates to the effect on the guitar strings. Chuck
