Was it fun Tom? For some reason I can’t get excited about turning resin, but maybe it’s “just me”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have seen some beautiful turnings with the resin, for sure!👍
I'm with you John, I like to touch, feel, and see, but try not do. Ya got the smell, and then something doesn't seem ----- "natural"! With that being said, I just bought a half gallon of resin, and hope to go visit Turntex in 3 weeks. You can't trust Lil Mikey!

" And I have some small zip lock bags I'll put them in to take to church so the don't get all tangled up."

That is one of Lil Mikey's primary duties for Mrs. Lil Mikey. Untangling necklace chains. He gots patience - she claims to not have much - but I can't get rid of the nagging thought that she might be playing Lil Mikey!

Now all I need is enough acacia and black locust. The glow sounds cool! When completed and it glows, will I have to play a Beatles record to show how cool I am?
YES, run through the whole album Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band……notably in sequence starting with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (LSD), Within You Without You, Fixing A Hole, A Day in the Life…….then if you feel like not want to feel old because you are under some good feely, you can blast “When I am 64”……it won’t be as depressing. Don’t ask me how I know. My neighbor from downstairs when I was in high school had a large album collection- he one day out of the blue handed me an original vinyl with the plastic partly still on it with the cut-outs of this album……then he gave me others like some Jimmy Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin II & III…….boy that was a trip:sarcastic: and I mean that in the most innocent way. I was starting to learn how to play guitar during that time and my father will bring me into the Upper West Side to get lessons and my luck I had a hippie- I mean he looked and play the part. Groovy.

Cut the handle off and weld a thicker wall pipe to it.
Mine doesn't bend and I break pallets like that all the time.

The heavier the better. The weight actually helps when you snap it to pop the boards loose.
I think I'll do similar to yours, Cut it the existing handle off, and have a short piece of heavy DOM that goes up to the top of the plate reinforcement that's there re-welded on, so I can put a replaceable handle on.

If you lack a welder, cut it and sleeve it. Cut the bend out, insert a schedule 40 piece of pipe inside and slide a thin wall pipe overtop of the two. Then drill a hole and bolt the the base to lock the three, and cap the top.

DOM for the handle is out.... solid 1045 is less than half the cost. I have Jack locally for steel suppliers, so I usually wind up ordering online.

that's the sad thing... upon measuring, it is sched. 40 pipe.... :wonky: I might just try to get then bend out and slip in some solid rd. bar in the mean time..... Depends on what I can get locally. If not, I'll cut the old pipe off and put a piece of larger OD/ID it the bottom, and make the handle replaceable.

The quick & Dirty repair will be cutting the pipe off @ the plate... which gives me about 8" of overlap to put some 3/4" CRS bar in for a handle.... the long term would be cut all the pipe off and weld in some new thick wall DOM and use some 1" CRS for a handle, but wondering if that is overkill??? I'll hit the local Hardware store that sells steel and see what they have for round stock, before likely ordering online as we have Jack for steel suppliers within a 2 hour drive.

Karen and I worked on building two easy pop up displays for Hope Heritage Days. She is going to paint them white tomorrow.
The first picture is what it is going to basically look like. The second picture shows how it looks broken down and should be easy to store away.

My buddy‘s grandson spent some time in the shop this weekend. He wanted to turn a goblet. He had turned a couple of other things before so I thought why not. We worked over the hard maple over primarily with a roughing gouge and spindle detail gouge.

Started a few today. The top piece is unknown, was the only piece like it in a recently picked up load. Bored thousands of these and this was by far the most difficult, bit kept binding. Moisture is 5.4 percent, wood is very dense yet turns like butta with a fresh gouge. It’s not hornbeam or rock maple, familiar with them, was cut in coastal south Maine. Any idea what it could be? Other two are oak and cherry.
