Received this as a hand me down from a friend whose dad made knives and passed many years ago... bits of stuff have been showing up over the years as they find them in closets etc... thought this was osage at first (as he has given me some) but after I cleaned some grunge off I decided I was wrong...

any ideas???

thanks!

It doesn't smell like mesquite.... Hey, Im :texas:so if i missed that i should be shot. :lol2: but honestly, the grain isnt ripping out rough like mesquite normally does and I think the density is higher too... But this stuff has been in a closet for who knows how long.... the only part that looks mesquite [to me] is the end grain...

I have a bigger chunk of it - will run pics by the mesquite maven down south.... :thanx2: Thanks to all for ur help!

Sarah
