As I was laying out boards for cutting boards a couple of days ago, it occurred to me that one species I had bug treated with chemicals some time ago. Should I be using bug treated wood for cutting boards or other food safe articles such as bowls, pepper mills, and the like? Chuck

I am sure some might be ok, borax for instance, or diatomaceous earth but I would error on side of caution and say a big no.

Nope. You should not. For food stuff you will need to use heat instead of chemicals. If course this depends slightly on which chemical, but generally, no.
Thanks for the alternative idea of heat vs chemicals, as it relates to food safety! It is intuitive, but I just had not thought through this. Chuck
