My favorite finish, been using on most turned things for years. Usually buy in quart size so it stays fresh for the month or so it takes to use up… got this gallon for Woodcraft’s cost today because the can is ugly. Bags were on sale too. Also got an additional discount for being a League member. Compare to retail cost of a quart, moral is if it’s damaged but usable ask for a discount.

Well done! What's in Bush Oil?
The MSDS shows it's 31-40% linseed oil plus 31-40% other oils ("aliphatic hydrocarbons"), 1-10% urethane (varnish) and 1-10% solvents ("aliphatic petroleum distillates"). It includes some cobalt and manganese drying agents.

Those Stop-Loss bags work well if you keep the air out. Hard to fill without their funnel, though.

We had a structure fire 2 weeks ago. They used linseed on a T&G floor, set the used rags in a plastic bag on the front porch. Rags lit off about 6 hours later, burned through the porch. The fire then burned up, under the metal flashing for porch attachment and into the box beam. Once the fresh floor lit off, the entire place was soot. Structure looked saved from the outside, however the inside is likely another story.

Rag safety.
