Cherry Basket Illusion

That will be outstanding when completed!!!! By my reckoning, you've made somewhere between 13,000 and 14,000 burn marks on the topside - does not count the marks in the diamonds on the back. Longest row approximately 655 marks while the At the end you will likely have made between 25,000 to 28,000 burn marks, not including what you would do on the rim. Now, what does that prove? You've got patience and endurance and don't mind breathing in smoke! But it doesn't prove who is the most obsessive - you for making the marks, or me for counting the marks!!

Mike, that's a pretty close estimate, but maybe a tiny bit low? Largest bead is 9" diameter, 10th down is 7.5", 20th is 5.5", 30th is 3". 39 rows total and a few samples counts show around 25 stitches per inch.

If I do a linear (between row diameters) estimate, comes out to around 16,000. Not a linear curve, so who knows exactly, but between 13,000 - 16,000 is probably a very good estimate. And, it's all the closer I'm going to get. If you think burning them gets tedious, try counting them after the fact.

As to the smoke, there really isn't much other than a faint aroma while working, not like I'm smoking a stogie or anything.

Does get a little monotonous burning them, but a good way to clear the mind and blank everything out for a while.

The trouble with having so much negative space in a design is having to fill row after row, after row with "stitches". Just a few rows to go on the back and then a couple hours for the rim.

I can honestly say I've now fulfilled my urge for basket illusion pieces for a while. I do love figuring and laying out the design, but it does get a tiny bit tedious when it's time to fill.
