*Closed* Cocobolo log section

Quarter piece of Cocobolo. Weighs in at just over 11pounds. Made a “fresh cut” on one end grain and one face was cut “not too long ago” showing how it turned almost orange (from black) after being in a little sunlight.

Sapwood has checks and I can see a couple checks in the face (where Rosewood and Cocobolo are written). Also want to point out a bit of decay on uncut end near one corner by sapwood.

Overall, a heavy dense block with the rulers showing dimensions. Asking $75 plus shipping.

@ronnybounds was asking about some Cocobolo so he has first dibs.

Wow! I think I haven’t seen Cocobolo that big in a long time. In Europe you can get fairly sized board or turning blanks but nothing in this raw form short of buying logs or halflogs.

This forum amazes me in a beautiful way every single day.
 
Tropical Exotic Hardwoods usually has cocobolo cants in stock. I’ve seen them up to 20” square but 12-16” is more common. They don’t show up on the website, though.
The owner, Mitch, has a sawmill in Mexico.
