curly firewood

@barry richardson

Barry - happy to send you this piece, just pay shipping, if you want it. Measures approx 9” wide x 19” long x (varies) 3-2-1.5” thick. You can play with it and see if you can make it work.
I’m pretty sure shipping would be in the $15 (+/-) range.

It was basically free to me, so no return from you. If I ever need a small piece of misc desert species, I’ll reach out.
If you don’t think it works, no problem either. John

*edit - bottom of piece is cut chain saw smooth.

John, thanks! I will take it, Just message me what I owe. Just let me know when I can return the favor...

Came across a broken-down curly Pear log section if you’re still looking Barry.

Great looking piece of wood! I'm afraid the shipping would be more that I would want to spend though... Thanks for posting!

The tip is a little muddy is all (if that’s what you are looking at?)
Bottom front. The break is quite abrupt. If I were carving this bowl it wouldn’t hold up to the adze. The lathe would probably hold it together but finishing would require some sanding sealer or similar to get past tear out.

I'm not sure yet how it's going to be cut up. Yes, the tree obviously broke abruptly, it is Pear, after all. Looks like I can rip it in half as the backside is all there.

The face showing........not sure it's anything real useful for what I do because of the irregularity of it. For sculptural things, it's kinda nice.
