Desert ironwood cookie / cross section

I am hoping to find someone willing to cut a desert ironwood cookie or two for me. I am looking for some sort of visual appeal - color/ grain or just interesting decay pattern. Larger is better, but not particular on size.

Glad to pay or trade as desired.
 
I don't have a trunk section to cut from now but I will keep an eye out for some.....
 
@bhatleberg I have a log section that’s about 8” diameter and 20” long. Would some slices of this work? It’s got large cracks which is common for DIW.
My bandsaw will hate me if I slice this thing up! :lol2: And my shop will smell like gym shoes for a month LOL.

Yep - that would work.

Let me know what works for you - thickness between .5 and 1.5 works for me, really only need one but glad to buy a few while paying for shipping anyway...
 
@BangleGuy After cutting the cookies for @bhatleberg , I would be interested in any that might remain that you would be willing to part with. Please let me know measurements and price of any such DIW.

Here’s a slice of that log section. Measures 1” thick and is about 8” diameter. I sanded both faces flat using the Performax. These would be $25 each plus shipping via USPS MFRB. Thanks! Eric

Hi @ScoutDog , that log section is pretty big so let me know what size you would like and I will price it out. This stuff is hard as heck, so the less cutting will save some money :good2:

@BangleGuy Those two cookies look great!
How much is left? If you could readily ship the remaining log, hopefully there won't need to be much cutting at all.
If that's unrealistic or cost prohibitive (based on size or weight or ???), I'd be great with what you could fit in a FRB of and ship my way. Live edge is my favorite.

@ScoutDog Here's a large segment 5.5" tall with dimensions shown in the pictures. 13 pounds. $110 shipped via LFRB. Its quite the chunk of wood.

That is simply heavenly, I'll claim it! Where do you get this stuff? If there is any back story on this beautiful piece, I'd like to learn it so it could continue on with the finished pieces it will (eventually) become.
