Yes and no.

In many woods, the sapwood is the most vunerable to insect attack. So for decades, lots of woods were debarked and hewn to the edges of heartwood for international trade. So, sapwood was not readily avalible until recent years (last 2 decades) for many woods. Sapwood also had this traditional "waste-wood" stamp it carried for a long time. Luckily times have changed in that area.

As you know, I'm much newer to this, so I'm very used to seeing sapwood. It often seems like a way for dealers to squeeze out a little extra. Pink ivory isn't very plentiful over here, so i don't ever see slabs. I have seen the occasional sliver of sap on a turning blank though.

Well... I'm glad i decided to get the photos tonight, cause while doing so i discovered the condensate pump for my tankless unit took a dump on me. Gotta get a replacement before the puddle of moldy acid water touches my dalbergia.

In any event, i cleaned up a ~6-9" height of slab on each side, wet with water, and got some photos. Turns out the plum has some figure, especially the bigger slab. I didn't even know that was a thing with plum . Also, the pink ivory is 3/4” - 7/8" thick, and the plum slabs are 1" - 1 1/8” thick.

@Big Ry so sorry for the delay in responding! I've been overwhelmed with work-related stuff and not handling it well.

Those slabs are gorgeous! I don’t have anything like either of those in my collection. However, it seems simply wrong to cut such amazing slabs for a small sample that I could use. Please keep me in mind if ever you start to cut into those for any other reason. I’d snap up about a foot long of the full width section of either if you were offering.

I’m happy trade for the olive slab plus the gnarled pieces or Redbud and Dogwood. Plus, if you encounter any interesting thins you might not have a use for, I’ll put them to good use, too. There is no rush to ship as my shop time will be severely limited in the foreseeable few weeks.

If you’re good, I’ll go ahead and package and ship to you the DIW. Is there anything else I can send with it? What else might you be seeking these days? (Slippery slope of a conversation, I realize, but wanted to ask in case I had anything you would want.)
