Hey y’all,
I’m interested in finding a couple 12 x 12 x 3-5” thick blanks for turning a large bowl. I’m still learning, so burls would not be best for me. Prefer it not be black walnut, but would consider anything else.
Thanks,
Bruce

I have a 12 inch round of flame box elder that is 4 inches thick if that peaks your interest.

I have a large variety of kiln dried 12" x 12" x 3". A few of the more popular are Mahogany, ambrosia Maple, Poplar, Ash, Cherry, Wenge, Sapele, and Sycamore. I have kiln dried 12" x 12" x 4" in hard Maple, Ash, Mahogany, and Sapele.

Just ordered a couple blanks from you! But, now I notice they were processed/wax sealed green…will save them back for later use.

Thanks! I’ve never turned box elder, does it work easily?

Ambrosia maple will be a bit harder but otherwise, it is the same family and basically the same thing causing the color changes.
Poplar is soft with low grain interference. Fruit trees should also yield smooth sides.
Blanks this size take several years to dry.

Given 2Feathers assessment of turning box elder, I’d like to try this if you can let me know cost and such. Thanks!
