♫ εηdεd ♫ Koa wood in need of milling

Is it just me, or is a lot of that already milled?

Also, I'm told that short sections are pretty tough to mill with some bandmill setups because of the difficulty securing the wood to the mill... that may not be true, and I have very little experience around mills.

Seems like a chainsaw mill build/purchase could be an easier route... since you've already got the 'labor'.

With a chainsaw mill you have a much wider kerf so you lose a lot of material, as far as short pieces, I've got a sled built that clamps to my mill to hold short pieces and does a decent job with them, I use it for whacking up burls.

My buddy in Key West is pretty good with shorter pieces. I forget what he calls the cross pieces but he has basically made more out of wood that will fill in for shorter runs. That said he does prefer milling table top sized pieces just because he can charge more.

The pallets that are empty were covered with stuff that needs milling too.

Wow... if I posted this here I would get a lecture about where posts should go from the first mod that came upon it like @Schroedc but if a purdy girl posts up a mountain of koa it somehow makes you dorks forget all the rules. Colin you should be ashamed of yourselve.

@Mike1950 you sir simply offer solutions and for that I thank you.

@Tclem you hush up and let Paxton show you how a turkey pot and hair sticks work...

@Maya Ratcliff you need to be careful posting wood around these guys, it's like showing cake to the fat kids...

@ripjack13 can I get a ruling here please?
He is kind whiney.....
