Hi all,

I'm barking a lot of trees, pine, oak, a few others (50 plus) this summer and would like a good quality drawing knife. Does anyone make one in the USA anymore? What brand is a good one, what should I expect to pay? Also I seen a couple of curved barking knives, are those any better? Does the width of the knife make any difference? (I've seen ebay and amazon prices from $30-100, US made to German, and read the customer reviews)

The trees that I'm cleaning are anywhere from 20 to 40 feet tall and is for a barn, inside and outside as well as for the rafters.

Thanks on saving the blisters on my hands or lack of them.

You might look at used ones. also Peeled a lot of cedar logs in my youth with a peeling spud. Might be easier then a drawknife

Checked the ones on ebay and amazon. Only three on sale, all three appear to be well used. I've never used a peeling spud, though it looks easy. Anything to save on blisters!

I think it is easier- you stand up and can use length for leverage. Only 3???

Looks good to me. Just let know what you want, plus whatever the price for shipping (28787 zip code)

I have walnut logs in 3-15 inches in diameter, some cherry, or is there something else you'd prefer (cash?) Let me know if I'm not suppose to do this in this forum.

Hows a $20 donation to the forum sound? I'll see what I can find to ship it in.
And I'll move this whole thread to the WTB area to stay with in our rules...
