About a month ago during a phone call, Colin and I had a brief discussion about using local wood in projects such a pen. A few weeks ago, I sent Colin a pen with a blank from a aspen tree that was local from up in the mountains. I asked him his thoughts and he said it should be stabilized and may take dye nicely. After a few pms, we talked about me sending him some blanks to stabilze and him sending some back. Colin, here you go. 20 in all and they fit in a padded envelope. Most are about 6" long and 3/4x1". Feel free to do what you like and if you feel they work out decently, send some back...whatever you think is fair. I have more of these boards as I use them to practice dovetails on. Let me know if this works or you.
